A Tool for Helping Students and Communicating with Colleagues
Goal Statement K-State MAP-Works impacts student success by: empowering students to identify areas of concern, utilize relevant resources and practice positive behaviors and coordinating an effective intervention by faculty and staff to promote student retention.
MAP-Works Implementation at K-State • A non-confidential survey that all first-year students were asked (not mandated) to take • Survey data and some incoming characteristics are used to classify a student’s risk of leaving the institution • If a student chooses not to take the survey, this is already an indicator that they are ‘high risk’ • The initial survey launched Sept. 12 and closed Oct. 7 • Survey data was available to the students direct connections and specific individuals assigned as their primary responder. • There are three shorter follow-up surveys. Two have been sent out already. • Students semester GPA were uploaded and their enrollment status as of the 20th day of class.
