  6. How does waste and pollution affect our environment? • Eyesore • Bad odor • Health hazards • Increases insect vectors • Increases rodents • Costly

  7. Common Recycle items • Glass • Paper • Aluminum • Plastics

  8. Other items the can be recycled • Appliances • Batteries • Bicycles • Computers • Televisions • Fluorescent Light Bulbs • Scrap metals • Tires

  9. Fairfax County, VA • Located in northern in 2008 • Total Municipal solid waste generated = 1.5 tons per year. • Approx. 6 pounds per person per day. • State laws

  18. Others may also benefit from your participation in recycling. • Donations will be made to burn victims • Earn $500.00 for your school • People would be attracted to live and do business in your neighborhood.
