  1. CLASSIFICATION CHALLENGE Object of the Game: To discover and classify various species into groups. (e.g. Mammals, Reptiles) Focusing on the differences between animals in the slide in order to classify them into species groups. Picking the odd one out and also being able to sequence them in the correct order shown. Game to be played in Teams

  2. How to Play the Game: • Exercise 1: • The three slides are shown to the teams • Teams must then identify differences between the animals • Classify which species (monotremes) • Remember them in the correct order (so the pictures are shown one at a time) (We could give them Multiple choice alternatives?)

  3. Exercise 2: • Reptiles • Amphibians • Mammals

  4. Exercise 3: *Mammals *Marsupials *Monotremes

  5. Exercise 4: • Marsupials • Mammals • Reptiles • Monotremes

  6. Exercise 5: • Marsupials • Amphibians • Mammals • Birds

  7. Discovery Learning is an idea of Piaget’s. Children need to actively discover meaning. In this game they are discovering what characteristics species have in common, those which may seem to be in the same group but belong to another classification. An added bonus is sequencing, the teams will have to work together to keep them in order. At the end of the game the teacher may get the results and put them in a table in Excel and then make a chart from the results using the students to demonstrate this.
