  2. In·teg·ri·ty • Steadfast adherence to a strict moral or ethical code. • Moral soundness; honesty; freedom from corrupting influence or motive; -- used especially with reference to the fulfillment of contracts, the discharge of agencies, trusts, and the like; uprightness; rectitude.

  3. Character is a constellation of enduring motivational and other traits that are manifested in the characteristic ways that an individual reacts to various challenges

  4. How to Love Yourself • Stop all criticism. • Don’t scare yourself. • Be gentle, kind and patient. • Be kind to your mind. • Praise yourself. • Support yourself. • Be loving to your negatives. • Take care of your body. • Work on skills you already have • REMAIN POSITIVE NO MATTER WHAT!

  6. Trustworthiness • Be honest. • Don’t deceive, cheat or steal. • Be reliable – do what you say you’ll do. • Have the courage to do the right thing. • Build a good reputation. • Be loyal – stand by your family, friends and country.

  7. Respect • Treat others with respect; follow the Golden Rule. • Be tolerant of differences. • Use good manners, not bad language. • Be considerate of the feelings of others. • Don’t threaten hurt anyone. • Deal peacefully with anger, insults and disagreements.

  8. Responsibility • Do what you are supposed to do. • Use self-control. • Be self-disciplined. • Think before you act – consider the consequences. • Be accountable for your choices.

  9. Fairness • Play by the rules. • Take turns and share. • Be open-minded; listen to others. • Don’t take advantage of others. • Don’t blame others carelessly.

  10. Caring • Be kind. • Be compassionate and show you care. • Express gratitude. • Forgive others. • Help people in need.

  11. Citizenship • Do your share to make your school and community better. • Stay informed; vote. • Be a good neighbor. • Obey laws and rules. • Respect authority. • Protect the environment.

  12. Do’s and Don’ts of Integrity Activity • With a partner, write list of do’s and don’ts for being a person of integrity. You should have AT LEAST 5 “do’s” and 5 “don’ts”. Be prepared to share! • Answer questions: • What happens when people live in accordance with these guidelines? • What happens when they don’t? • In what ways can/do young people demonstrate integrity?

Your character is defined by what you do, not what you say or believe. • Every choice you make helps define the kind of person you are choosing to be. • Good character requires doing the right thing, even when it is costly or risky. • You don't have to take the worst behavior of others as a standard for yourself. You can choose to be better than that. • What you do matters, and one person can make a big difference. • The payoff for a good character is that it makes you a better person and it makes the world a better place.
