  3. Sometimes cuts can be small…

  4. Sometimes cuts can be large…

  5. When you find someone that is bleeding: • 1.) Do not panic! • Panicking will make the person excited, which will make blood rush through their body. • 2.) CALM the person down. • 3.) If the cut is small, wash it first to clean any bacteria from the area. • 4.) Apply bandages with pressure. • Attempt to stop the bleeding.

  6. When you find someone that is bleeding badly: • 1.)Do not panic! • Panicking will make the person excited, which will make blood rush through their body. • 2.) CALM the person down. • 3.) Apply bandages with pressure. • Attempt to stop the bleeding. • 4.) Call 120 as soon as the cut is packed with bandages. • TIME IS CRITICAL!

  7. The time you take to apply a bandage is important. • Timing is the difference between life and death. Or

  8. Slings for broken arms/collarbones • Slings are used to keep a broken arm in place until a doctor can brace it properly so it can heal. • Meant to help the person relax. • NOT A SUBSTITUTE FOR GOING TO THE DOCTOR.

  9. Bones healing improperly (irregularly) look like this:

  10. Applying slings: • Applying slings properly depends on the type of injury.

  11. Broken arm bones • A break to the humerus, radius, or ulna will require a sling. • Must keep the person’s arm from moving as little as possible. • Prevents further damage.

  12. Broken arm bones • Take a triangular piece of cloth that is large. • Place one corner near the person’s elbow and drop the other two corners on either side of the arm. • Bring the hanging corners up around the person’s neck and tie it tightly. • Twist the corner near the elbow and tuck the remaining cloth into the sling.

  13. Broken Collarbone • More damaging because this bone gains pressure from shoulder movement. • Any shoulder movement at all will cause pain.

  14. Broken Collarbone • Same method for a broken collarbone. • Take a triangular piece of cloth and place one point to the elbow. • One point goes to the shoulder. • One point to the hip. • Wrap the point at the hip around the opposite shoulder and tie behind the neck.
