Chariot racing was a popular sport in Roman times. Races were held in a circus, so called because of its oval shape. The oldest and largest circus in Rome was the Circus Maximus
You can find images of chariots racing in lots of Roman Art. These two are a mosaic and a marble sculpture.
This basic sketch shows some of the parts of a chariot. You may know some of these as they share names with parts of your cycle. A real chariot will have stress bracing to stop it flexing too much when it is racing – find out what this is!
