HAPPY BIRTHDAY to POMP (Jean Baptiste Charbonneau)He may not have had a birthday party when he became one year old on February 11, 1805, but this certifies that _______________________________ attended Pomp’s 200th National Birthday Party. Date: _____________ Location: ________________ Thanks for attending a birthday party held for Pomp (Jean Baptiste Charbonneau). He was the baby son of Sacagawea and Toussaint Charbonneau, all of whom accompanied the Lewis and Clark Expedition to the Pacific Ocean. The Bicentennial–2003-2006–is currently being celebrated across the nation. Pomp was born February 11, 1805, at Fort Mandan where the Lewis and Clark party was spending the winter. He would have been 200 years old on February 11, 2005, so having fun honoring him on his birthday is such a nice way to celebrate the Bicentennial. Pomp was not quite two months old when his parents took him along as the Expedition started up the Missouri River in April 1805. He was carried, traveled in canoes and on horses until August of 1806. While there were many bright, comfortable days, he also went through wind, snow, rain and cold. Pomp’s 200 Birthday Parties Headwaters L&C Chapter P.O. Box 577 Bozeman, MT 597y1-0577
