  1. Massachusetts Department of Public Health Family Planning Program 73,000 clinical family planning visits were eligible for MDPH reimbursement in FY11 due to clients’ lack of insurance, low-income status and/or need for confidential services In FY11, MDPH Family Planning Program funded 12 agencies that operated nearly 80 clinic sites across Massachusetts, providing reproductive health care services to over 102,000 clients in needat 131,000 clinical visits. MDPH funding was able to reimburse agencies fornearly 48,000 clinical encounters serving 31,000 clinical clients in FY11. Many more clients were reached through non-clinical activities. • MDPH-funded FP agencies provide high quality, • culturally-competent care to vulnerable client populations: • very low income clients, • un- and under-insured clients, • clients whose insurance status changes frequently, • clients who are ineligible for insurance under MA health care reform, • non-English speaking clients, • teens and those seeking confidential care, • clients with little experience seeking medical care, • highly mobile and difficult-to-reach clients. FP agencies help enroll and transition uninsured clients into subsidized insurance and Health Safety Net programs MDPH-funded FP agencies provide essential services including physical exams, contraception, HIV/STD testing, preventive health screening, vaccinations, counseling, and referrals For more information, please visit www.mass.gov/dph/familyplanning
