Cortez conquers the Aztecs • Conquistadors • Hernan Cortez reached Mexico in 1519 & conquered Aztec Emperor • Montezuma II thought Cortez was Quetzalcoatl (god) • Cortez Kidnapped Montezuma II, the Aztecs managed to drive out the Conquistadors but they killed Montezuma II • Spanish won • Better weapons, armor, horse, introduced small pox, allied with enemies of the Aztecs
