REVIEW: Passé Composé • Passé composé is: • A tense used to express the past • Passé composé is formed: • Sub + helping verb + past particple • Helping Verb: • Two helping verb, avoir and etre • Only use etre with DR & MRS VANDERTRAMPP verbs or REFLEXIVE verbs • Past participles: • Regular er -> é : Regular ir -> i : Regular re -> u • Remember the past participle must agree with subject when using ETRE

  3. Etre = été Avoir = eu Prendre = pris Pouvoir = pu Voir = vu Apprendre = appris Lire = lu Boire = bu Comprendre = compris Courir = couru Faire = fait Vouloir = voulu Offrir =offert Ouvrir = ouvert Mettre = mis Recevoir = réci COMMON IRREGULAR PAST PARTICIPLES (with avoir)

  5. REFLEXIVE VERBS IN PASSE COMPOSE • Reflexive verbs ALWAYS use etre as a helping verb in the passe compose • Reflexive verb “formula” • Subject + se + etre + past participle • Past participles MUST agree with the subject UNLESS there is a body part in the sentence.
