6. KP/FATA Update: Khyber Displacement

KP/FATA Update: Current situation • From January to May, an additional 47,960 IDP families from Khyber, of which 10,282 families have opted to reside in Jalozai Camp, bringing the total current Jalozai population to 10,487 families. • Jalozai: • ACF, in consultation with the WASH Cluster and UNICEF, is working on pipe networking in the new phases (7 & 8 phase) of Jalozai Camp to support the new influx. • Oxfam will start providing WASH services in Jalozai camp in a weeks time. This includes provision of water through water tankering for IDPs in phase 7 & 8, until piped water is made available along with operation and maintenance of two (2) tube wells, hygiene promotion activities in phase 7&8, construction of special latrines for persons with disabilities and provision of WASH facilities at the distribution point.

8. KP/FATA Update: Off-camp • water quality analysis and sanitation situation in the off camp IDP settlements, highlighted in IARA report.

KP/FATA Update: HOP • HOP projects amounting to USD 18.823 million finalized and 13 projects uploaded on OPS • A total of 182,658 potential displacement to be addressed through HOP • 19,483 are expected to reside in Camps while remaining will be with host communities. • A case load of 65,000 families is expected from Khyber. Till date 47,960 have already been registered and living in both camps and communities. • 14,000 are expected to reside in Jalozai Camp, remaining with host communities.

Water TWG Background Established water TWG on 3rd April by the WASH cluster WHO (Chair) and Oxfam ( Co-Chair) SDC ( in absence of chair and co-chair) Objectives To inform all participating agencies and ensure maximum participation in the collection and selection of good practices To gather current standards, applications in country/provinces and study the good guides to create a forum for all stakeholders to increase their knowledge of the issues related to water supply and water safety during emergency situations, To provide guidance to participating agencies to improve their contribution to the development of the sector.

To have a final aggregated documents on emergency responses on (water quality issues, water supply systems, best local technologies and practices, monitoring and responding to acute disease outbreaks. • Capacity building of Government National counterpart like NDMA • Streamlining water related emergency interventions with government preparedness and response plans.

14. Product: • A comprehensive document on guidelines for water supply implementation, water quality surveillance, treatment options and alternatives. • A document that outlines an overview on Water technical background and current practices, • Proved implementation practices that have made impacts in provinces for adaptation Time line for documentation and compilation of required documents: By 30th June

15. First Introductory meeting on May 11, 2012 • WHO and Oxfam will collect all guidelines and fact sheets • Mr Waseem (SDC) will collect information on water contamination status of every province • Mr Mansoor Malik (UN-Habitat) will collect guidelines and factsheets on household water treatment options • Response strategy for social mobilization (Jannat Durrani) • Best available local technologies available ( any member) • SDC will be chairing the meeting if WHO and Oxfam member are not available
