Anatomical terms: Anterior: means near the front Posterior: means near the back Cranial: near the head Caudal: near the tail Medial: near the midline Lateral: away from the midline N.B: all these terms are used to describe one structure in relation to another.
The body systems are: Skeletal system Muscular system Respiratory system cardiovascular system Digestive system Urinary system Genital system Lymphatic system Nervous system
Skeletal system It is the bones of the body. It is formed of the skeleton. It is consisted of: axial skeleton appendicular skeleton
1. Axial skeleton • It consists the following: • skull • vertebral colon; formed of • cervical vertebra (7) • thoracic vertebra (12) • lumbar vertebra (5) • sacral vertebra (5) • coccyx (4) • ribs (12 on each side) • sternum in the mid line
