  2. The Skills Test • The test was designed to test student’s ability to hit a moving target with a ball. • Students were required to hit a moving target at 5 meters, 8 meters, 12 meters, and a bonus throw at 15 meters.

  3. Test Criteria • Each student received 2 throws at each distance. (5m, 8m, 12m) • Each student also received a bonus throw at 15 meters. • The students received 10 points for hitting the target at least once at each distance. • The students also received 5 bonus points for hitting the target 6 out of 6 times and 10 points for hitting the 15 meter bonus target. • The test is out of 30 points with a maximum score being 45 points.

  4. Equipment • Football or any Round Ball • 4 cones to mark distances • 2 cones to mark throwing line

  5. Original Grading System

  6. Problems with Original Grading System • If a student struggled at one distance it made a big impact on the overall score. • The scores did not result a realistic score. • Example: John totaled 4 hit targets and received a 67% while Michelle hit 4 targets and received a 100%.

  7. Alternate Scoring System • Each student will receive 5 points each time a target is hit. • If all 6 targets are hit they will receive an additional 5 points. • If the bonus target is hit they will receive 10 additional points. • This will give a more realistic score on a percentage of hitting the target.

  8. Distribution of Letter Grade

  9. Overview of Skill Test • The test was successful as it measured the students ability to hit a moving target. • The problems presented were caused by a poor scoring system that did not represent a realistic score.
