The Concept After the 2007 ISAF Sailing World Championships, there was a need to continue the work done by the Club. The Clube created a structure to embrace all areas of all major International events the Clube Naval de Cascais holds every year. Allying the technical capacity of the Clube together with a strong commercial and promotional component is the key of success for a good event.
Cascais Cascais is a town that has a long history and culture related to the Sea and is a well known touristic attraction in Portugal, thanks to a glamorous shoreline and the charm of an old fishing town. Sport is a fundamental part of the town’s strategy to enhance tourism and yachting is, along with Golf, the main sport promotion priority. Cascais has also a long tradition of hosting international sailing events and its unique sailing conditions are highly praised by the yachtsman that have competed in these waters.
TheClub Thanks to one of the best racing areas in Europe, due to its excellent wind conditions, has organized no less than 40 World, European and Continental Championships in International and Olympic Classes. The for the ISAF 2007 Worlds the club and the Marina have undergone major renovations, having now superb facilities to host major sailing events.
The Marina Cascais Marina is, by design, the setting for great International Events and is passionate about being a comfortable, welcoming leisure area for all who visit it. The Marina have superb facilities to host major sailing events. The Marina is capable to receive yachts up to 50 meters and with more than 5m depth.
The Club Experience In the past 4 years the club was involved with the organization of the: Audi Med Cup Circuit – Portugal Trophy, America’s Cup Cascais, Volvo Ocean Race – Lisbon Stopover, MOD70 European Tour, RC44 Cascais Cup, IMOCA European Warm up, Panerai Transat Classique, Dragon European Championship amongst many other major events.
TheSailing Conditions Cascais has proven over many years to have some of the best winds for racing anywhere in Europe. Different ranges of winds from light to low twenties knots and from different quarters are expectable. Weather should present large sunny spells with day air temperatures ranging from a minimum 20/25º C to as much as above thirties . Annual Statistics confirm that nearly 90% of race completion is reached over the year, proving that Cascais have excellent sailing conditions
