INRIA Sophia Antipolis - Méditerranée • Created in 1983 • 35 research teams on 4 sites (Sophia Antipolis, Marseille, Montpellier and Bologna in Italy) in partnership (half of them) with CNRS, universities and engineering schools • Three main scientific domains : • Computational Biology and Medicine • Ubiquitous Computing and Communications • Modeling, Simulating and Interacting with the real world • Host of the European group ERCIM (European Research Consortium for Informatics and Mathematics), which is itself the European host of the W3C (World Wide Web Consortium).
INRIA Sophia Antipolis - Méditerranée • Budget 2010: 31 M€ including • 22,5 M€ (state funding with 15 M€ for INRIA Civil Servant Salary) • 8,5 M€ external funding (contracts, software licenses, etc.) • 197 INRIA permanent staff (budgetary positions) • 113 researchers and 84 staff support (ETA) • 47 other permanent researchers staff (CNRS, Universities) • 253 non permanents (PhD students, post-doctoral, engineers, from about 46 different foreign countries…) => A workforce of 500 persons with 380 scientists
