Development and submission of sub-unit data at 1:250,000 scale with challenges and recommendations for harmonization.
E N D
Creation of an European WISE reference dataset on Sub-units (SU) Dimitrios Biliouris (Contract on WISE Tools & Services) Meeting of WG D on Reporting under the WFD 31 March 2009 SADL
Reference dataset: RBD & Sub-units • Member States were contacted on 28/10/2008 to deliver subunits of their RBD • Guidelines were provided on how the subunits should be submitted • Based on the list of sub-units agreed in WG D n 2008 • Geographical – shp files • Metadata – xml files • Reference dataset to be developed at • 1:250 000 scale • ERM data at that scale was provided for country border harmonisation SADL
Sub-units Submission SHP geometrical files at 1:250 000 scale Shape, Country Code, Name, MS Code, District Code, Area Metadata Resolution/scale, spatial representation type, Abstract, Dataset Language, Criteria used to divide the RBD in sub-units SADL
Sub-units Deliverables • by AT, Cz, EE, FR, DE, HU, PL, SK, UK • AT provided complete information on how sub-units have been created • Missing deliverables? • Description on how the subunits were created • Area of subunits in a single case SADL
Reference dataset: RBD & Sub-units Challenges/ difficulties to create WISE reference data set on sub-units: Difficulties encountered Country own projected coordinate system No country matched with the ERM data with the exception of Austria Overlays and/or gaps among different countries are present Recommendations to complete the task Harmonization of data sets along international boundaries
Reference dataset: RBD & Sub-units • Provisional deadline when first draft on WISE reference dataset on sub-units would be available Thankyou for your attention SADL
