A Guideline to Programme Context Analysis & Design (Integrating systems thinking, resilience, inclusion and behaviour) Version May 2018
A Guideline toProgramming Context Analysis & DesignProgramme:Date: Identifying a system and target geography Tool for prioritising a system; assessing relevance, opportunity, feasibility, & resilience (optional) Step 1. Programme context analysis Component 1.1 Map the system (the donut) to guide key areas of research Component 1.2 Context specific research and identification of key players Component 1.3 Resilience assessment of your target population and system against the main shocks and stresses Component 1.4 Assess your target population for exclusion Component 1.5 Stakeholder relationship analysis Component 1.6 Analyse the system, map it and identify a portfolio (set) of intervention areas Step 2. Sustainability Analysis How sustainable are the supporting functions and rules currently, and how could they be more sustainable Step 3. Assess potential partners Assess key players / potential partners for incentive and capacity Step 4. Map an overall results chain for the portfolio of interventions Develop an overall results chain for a portfolio of interventions and individual results chains GOAL, Guideline to Programme Context Analysis & Design, v May 18
Identifying a system Following the completion of the country strategic planning and the identification of your country strategic objectives, you will be able to identify the larger systems and geography that your county programme will have a strategically focus on. GOAL, Guideline to Programme Context Analysis & Design, v May 18
Identifying a system (optional tool)Tool for prioritising a system; assessing relevance, opportunity, feasibility, & resilience You may wish to use this tool to help you identify a system to focus in on, based on the: Feasibility – Is it possible of GOAL to engage? Opportunity- What is the prospects for pro-poor growth? Relevance– How significant is the system to poor people? Resilience– What are the opportunities to address shocks and stresses? Please feel free to review and adapt the questions, if you do use consistently across different systems. GOAL, Guideline to Programme Context Analysis & Design, v May 18
