  2. Corrupt File Examples An error message displays on system boot up or when OS loads. (ex. Blue screen of death) OS looks different (ex. Blacked out desktop) OS is not loading a program when activated. (ex. Clicking the Computer icon does nothing) 3 of 16

  3. How did this happen? Has a virus scan been done? Was anything deleted prior to this? Was a hard reset done? What was displayed in the error message? 4 of 16

  4. How to repair Windows OS? Step 1: Load Boot Menu Access 1: Restart Computer  When OS loads hit F8 to reach boot menu. Access 2:Some Windows OS load another menu when F8 is hit. To load the boot menu select the hard drive Step 2: Try Last Known Good Configuration Does not fix corrupt files or restore deleted things, but is sometimes a simple solution. 5 of 16

Step 2a: Error executing check disk.If check disk fails to execute because of a running program, there is a command option to try and pin point the unclosable/corrupt program, but can lead to more damages. Step 2b: End running program(Optional) Access: Start  RunType “msconfig”  Services tab Select programs to end. 13 of 16

  14. How to repair the OS? Step 4: Reinstall OS There can be other options to try, but at this point a reinstall of the OS is recommended. Save files from OS you want to keep on an external hard drive then reinstall the OS. 15 of 16
