The year the world ended… By Kate M.and Maciah L.
In 2009 a girl named Renee was watching the news on her new fantastic T.V. When a blasting news report came on about how the world will end in 2020. The president Marcy came on and says everything is going to be fine.
Renee starts to think how that is possible. She at first thinks a meteor is going to hit Earth but it also could be aliens taking over Earth. After Renee gets into deep thoughts there is a knock at the door and she drops the subject.
11 years later… Renee comes home from church and immediately starts to work on her new book called Being Free. Renee gets distracted by one of her drawings falling of her bulletin board.
When Renee finishes her first five chapters she walks them to her publisher and her editor. Renee wants to know if they think the book will sell and if people will like it.
As Renee walks to her publisher and editor she sees people begging for jobs and food on the streets of Manhattan. She wonders why this is but then thinks nothing about it.
Renee finally gets to her publisher and editor. She walks in and the entire building is in chaos. Papers are flying and everyone is shouting, she starts to calm people down and says it’s going to be all right.
OH NO! Suddenly Renee realizes why they are doing this. This is the year the world is supposed to end! She starts to panic but then calms down, she figured this out when she was little there is no possible way the world can end.
Renee says her calculations as a kid were 100% right and that the world isn’t going to end. Other people see the logic in her and start to laugh at all the things they were doing.
Renee starts to make a speech on the street and she says “Hey, everybody listen up! I have something to say, the world isn’t going to end today the government got it all wrong. They got you worked up for nothing!”. The people on the street didn’t believe her until.
Phew All the signs on the street light up. The president comes up and says “ We are sorry for the inconvenience but all our calculations were wrong and the world isn’t ending until another 30 years, so nothing to worry about!”. The screen goes blank and everyone lets out a relived breath.
