Development and Timeline • College- and career-readiness standards • Draft released for public comment • K-12 standards/learning progressions • Drafts forthcoming • To view documents, visit: www.corestandards.org • Public comment: January 2010 • Final drafts: Target date is early 2010
Common Core State Adoption • State adoption: • Voluntary • By the State Board of Education • 100% of the common core K-12 standards in English and mathematics to be adopted: • Implementation within 3 years • In its entirety or up to 15% state-specific content added • Next: Consortia of states will be encouraged to develop assessments & curricular materials
