  2. Did You Know? • Kids often complain that things aren’t fair. The leaders who wrote the Constitution wanted the government to be fair to everyone. They wanted the Congress to write fair laws and to treat people fairly.

  4. Did You Know? • Our leaders didn’t want that to happen. When they wrote the Constitution, they wanted to be sure the government that makes our laws has to follow the laws.

  6. Did You Know? • Laws are written that protect people when they are arrested for a crime. Police are not allowed to just lock a person up even if they are sure she is guilty. So the police have to follow the law.
