PM1703M Display • Counts Per Second (cps) display “ s-1” or Dose Rate display – switchable with mode button • “ s-1” mode: number per sec + Uncertainty in % • Dose Rate mode: unit microSv/h + Uncertainty (%)
Working with the Polimaster PRD • Switching On: press and hold mode button until instrument shows reaction: • test of alarm indicators (LED, sound, vibration) • Display check, firm ware version • Battery check (“batt”) • Device self-test (“test”) • background measurement (“cal”) is taken for 30 seconds • afterwards pager is ready for use! • Working with the radiation pager: • Monitoring mode: wear the pager on the belt during your normal activities • In case of an alarm by the pager, it automatically goes into Search Mode • Switching Off: • Press and hold light button until pager is switching off
The PM menu and IAEA default setting • Search alarm based on 5,3 Sigma, safety alarm at 100microSv/h (set only by using computer) • Limited Menu Selection on PRD: • Recalibration of the background • Alarm indicator vibration ON – OFF • Alarm indicator sound ON – OFF • Changing Modes: • Press mode button until Calibration display is visible • Press mode button again -> Audio: ON-OFF selection by light button • Press mode button again -> Vibration: ON-OFF selection by light button
Search with the Polimaster PRD • No manual activation of the search mode! • In case of an alarm, system automatically goes to search mode • Frequency of acoustic and light pulses is proportional to radiation strength • Move detector slowly, and as close as possible to surface • Keep 5-10 cm from surface to avoid possible contamination! • Do not shield the sensitive point (top side of pager) with your fingers • Watch display (amount of cps) and/or frequency of light and/or frequency of sound
