Our journey through our bridge topic Made by Fabulous Francesca Cheeky Charlie-Rose and Lovely Lilli
The River trip Our class Sea lions had a fantastic trip on the river up to Totnes and back to Dartmouth’s castle. It was excellent fun! Hope we can do it again sometime soon. We went passed Agatha Christie’s house and Emma took a picture of the children standing in front of her house.
The unexpected letter On a sunny day our class heard a knock at the door and our assistant went to answer it only to find a letter. A very posh letter it was. So Miss RadDon opened the posh letter.
The questionnaires. We worked out that if we did a questionnaire and take it down to Dartmouth and Kingswear we would have information about whether having a bridge would be a beneficial idea.
Researching types of bridges. We got put into groups of twos and threes and every group looked up a different bridge. One was the AlcanTara bridge, another was the golden gate and one was the Sydney harbour bridge.
Maths comes in handy! We put The information we collected from the public on the subject of having a bridge between Kingswear and Dartmouth into tally charts. After that we put the data into bar charts, pie charts (accurately) and pictograms. We had to do a success criteria after the charts.
Bridge over the higher ferry? Our class had a trip down to the higher ferry and looked to see if we could have a bridge over the higher ferry or not and we decided to have a bridge. so we took some pictures and printed them off at school. Then we were given an A3 piece of paper and drew our land scape then the next day we drew our bridges on a different piece of A3 piece of paper.
planning models Firstly we were given A4 pieces of paper. Then we wrote about how to construct it. After that we did our diagrams of our bridges.
The finishing touches Lastly our topic comes to a end so from the plans we get put into groups and make a model bridge and we got to use mod roc (practically plaster cast) to make many models like boats and people.
