The Means of Grace are Sacred Moments where Christ is re-presented • Sacraments are sacred moments that Jesus gave us by clear instruction and example • The number of sacraments celebrated within the church varies according to the teaching of the particular tradition or denomination • Christians must have an attitude of love and humility toward the different practices of various traditions

  3. The Two Sacraments Observed by Most Christians • Baptism – is an outward and visible sign of an inward and spiritual work of grace • Holy Communion

  4. In Addition to the Sacraments There are Many Other Means of Grace We Can Describe as Sacred Moments • Sacred moments come as a surprise • Sacred moments can come by divine appointment • Confirmation • Baptism, Call, Membership and Ordination • Marriage and singleness

  5. Sacred Moments are Divine Appointments With God Sacred moments can be found in the daily practices that help connect us with God • Prayer • Searching the Scripture • Worship • Finding spiritual friends and participating actively in the body of Christ • Fasting • Generosity

  6. Sacred Moments are Divine Appointments With God Sacred moments occur in the shared experiences of confession, forgiveness, healing and reconciliation

  7. Conclusion • We are called to open ourselves to God’s amazing grace in an infinite variety of ways. • In human relationships • In nature • To make room for the new life in Christ, something old has to die.
