INES - The International Network of Engineers and Scientists for Global Responsibility, founded in 1991, is an independent not-for-profit organization concerned with the impact of science and technology on society.
A Growing International Network In 13 years, INES has become a network of over 90 member organizations and individual members in 40 countries."These ways must be harmonize Humans and Nature and create socially a more righteous society for all citizens of your planet. To create and not to destroy is one of the main priorities in the third millennium." Michael Gorbachev: Nobel Prize Laureate (1988) greetings to INES
"Our main concern is fundamental: the survival of the civilizations. We also want to create a better world with this process, a world in which people not only learn to solve the problems without fight but also to learn to collaborate for the enrichment of culture. Politics must be based on high moral principles. Confidence and love are basic elements of human relations.
They are a special bonus, an additional incentive in our effort for the essential and the pleasant, the practical an the beautiful, the advisable an the good. And this forms this task still more rewardingly for scientists with a social conscience.Prof. Dr. Joseph Rotblat, Nobel Prize Laureate, INES Council Member
INTERNATIONAL NETWORK OF ENGINEERS AND SCIENTISTS FOR GLOBAL RESPONSIBILITY (INES) "Large stocks of weapons for mass destruction, overexploitation of common limited resources, and an unbalanced world economy provide fundamental challenges to human civilization an may even threaten its further existence...
Gross inequalities and injustice between and within industrialized and developing countries undermine economic, social and environmental security...Engineers and scientists play a key role, both in the processes that threaten international security and those that provide hope for the future....
It is now time to establish a multidisciplinary international network of engineers and scientists to promote the following aims: to encourage and facilitate international communication among engineers and scientists seeking to promote international peace and security, justice and sustainable development and working for a responsible use of science and technology.
This includes: to work for the reduction of military spending and for the transfer of resources to the satisfaction of basic needs, to promote environmentally sound technologies while taking long-term effects into account, to enhance the awareness of ethical principles among engineers and scientists and to support those who have been victimized for acting upon such principles."
