Key Words and Frame of Reference: Engaging Students in Story Creation and Comprehension

This teaching method involves students using provided key words to create a story, tapping into their prior knowledge on the topic. The teacher reads the story paragraph by paragraph, and students draw or write main ideas using an organizer to check for understanding. There are guided and independent practice activities, including storytelling strategies and rewriting the story as a group. The evaluation includes performing in a museum, and there is an extension activity to meet with Starr King students.
