  1. Dynalite Flash Generator Bio 498/698

  2. Studio Pro Dynalite Flash Generator The Dynalite is the power source and main control for all lighting equipment used in the imaging process.

  3. Dynalite: 5 Main Functions • Main Power • Connecting to Hardware • Lighting Intensity • Lighting Equipment Controls • Miscellaneous

  4. Studio Pro Dynalite Flash Generator Main Power Source Connection 4 Head Outlets Model Delay Power Switch A Power Switch B Dimmer Slide Switches Ratio/Combine Ready/Test Variator Knob Sync Main Power Radio Audible Ready Indicator Slave

  5. Dynalite: Main Power Power on Power off Power OFF Power ON

  6. Dynalite: Connecting to Hardware Main Power Source Connection 4 Head Outlets Sync Connection

  7. Dynalite: Main Power Source Connection Main power source connection will connect to any wall outlet Recommendation: Connect to a different outlet than the one used for computer and imaging system

  8. Dynalite: Head Outlets • These connect the Dynalite directly to the lighting equipment • Allow for a maximum of four lights to be connected to the Dynalite at one time. WARNING!!! DO NOT TOUCH…. Risk of dangerous, painful electric shock.

  9. Dynalite: Head Outlets • If more than one light is connected to the Dynalite, MUST have one light on left side and one light on right side.

  10. Dynalite: Sync Connection This connects your lighting system to your imaging system. i.e. When your camera takes a picture, your lights will know when to flash

  11. Dynalite Components: Lighting Intensity • The lighting intensity controls influence the intensity of the lights. • Can either be at Full, Half or Quarter intensity. • Full = Highest Intensity (Brightest) • Quarter = Lowest Intensity (Darkest) • Half = Middle Intensity • 6 possible intensity combinations. Lighting intensity controls (Power Switches)

  12. Dynalite Components: Lighting Intensity • Each Power Switch controls the 2 Head Outlets above the respective switch • Note: When using more than one light, you need to have one light connected to a left Head Outlet and one light connect to a right Head Outlet. Power Switch A (Controls the 2 left Head Outlets) Power Switch B (Controls the 2 right Head Outlets)

  13. Dynalite Components: Lighting Intensity Full and Full Intensity This is the highest intensity combination

  14. Dynalite Components: Lighting Intensity Half and Half Intensity

  15. Dynalite Components: Lighting Intensity Quarter and Quarter Intensity This is the lowest intensity combination

  16. Dynalite Components: Lighting Intensity Half and Full Intensity

  17. Dynalite Components: Lighting Intensity Half and Quarter Intensity

  18. Dynalite Components: Lighting Intensity Full and Quarter Intensity

  19. Dynalite: Variator Knob The Variator knob further controls the lighting intensity. (Currently turned down twice)

  20. Dynalite: Variator Knob When turning the Variator Knob down (clockwise/decrease intensity) Release the additional energy by pressing the Ready/Test button Also known as “bumping”

  21. Dynalite: Variator Knob When turning the power variation knob “up” (counter-clockwise/increase intensity) you do not need to “bump it”

  22. Dynalite: Ratio/Combine • Ratio = Asymmetrical setting • Light intensity directly corresponds to Power Switch settings • Combine = Symmetrical setting • Light intensity is equal between lights

  23. Dynalite: Model Delay • Off = no delay between pictures • On = delay between pictures (1, 2, 4, or 8) seconds

  24. Dynalite: Dimmer Slide Switches The power switches will turn the lights on and off. If the lights are either on or off, when pictures are taken, the lights will still flash. Dimmer slide switches (The lights are currently turned ON)

  25. Dynalite: Dimmer Slide Switches ON OFF

  26. Dynalite: Miscellaneous (Ready/Test) • This button serves as a flash test switch and signals when the flash has a 100% readiness. • Also used to “bump” excess energy

  27. Dynalite: Audible Ready Indicator • The Audible Ready Indicator makes a beep when the flash is ready • Not necessary for the Dynalite and lighting equipment to function

  28. Dynalite: Conclusion • Lighting is very important for imaging biological specimens • Utilize the Dynalite to control lighting to create high quality images • Additional Information: http://dynalite.com/wptest/wp-content/uploads/2010/09/ppmanual.pdf
