Changes Lesson 3 L.O. People respond differently to change Let’s think again about Melanie’s Journal from our previous session. Are these the only ways that someone could respond to changes in their lives such as these? What other feelings might we feel? How might we react? Today, we are going to look at another short story where the reactions of the children are very different and a little unusual. Today’s Story
The actual reasons were that Jack had had a very bad experience in the sea when he was little, getting out of his depth while lying on an inflatable mattress, and had been scared of the sea ever since; Rehana had become very frightened because people at the seaside wear swimming costumes and she knew that her family did not allow girls to show their legs and was worried that she would be forced to do something she did not want to do. Why might Jack and Rehana be upset? Has the teacher made them cry? Whose fault is it? Real Reasons Task
L.O. People respond differently to change Blue –Feelings Red -Actions Our work today looks at the different ways we might react when faced with change. We might have positive feeling (smiles) –we need to record them on the sheet, along with how they might look. On the other hand, we may experience negative feelings (tantrums) –we will record These on our sheet too. What might these be? How might they look? talk a lot happy excited smile frightened angry cry Some ideas hit out
