Introduction • ISCED used in many statistical domains: • Participation and/or graduates: UOE, AES, LFS, SILC, Time Use survey • Educational attainment (core variable in social surveys): LFS, SILC, AES, HBS, ICT, EHIS, EHSIS, SASU, Time Use Survey, population census, SES • EU2020 indicators (‘tertiary education attainment’ and ‘early leavers from education and training’) • Directors Social Statistics, meeting of September 2011: • 2014: starting year for implementation of ISCED 2011 • Revision of all Regulations referring to ISCED • Reference to ISCED mappings (basis for all harmonised ESS statistics on education and educational outcomes) Education and Training Statistics Working Group - Luxembourg, 5-6 June 2012

Towards single integrated ISCED mappings • 2012: Improved ISCMAP97-11 (ISCMAP97-11_rev) • Keep UOE scope • Improve the preliminary mappings: 3 digits of ISCED 2011, correct errors • Add relationship to LFS coding variables related to ISCED97 and ISCED 2011 • 2013: Revision of ISCMAP97-11_rev (ISCMAP97-11_rev2 • Extend coverage to qualifications out of UOE but with significant impact on educational attainment • If needed, simplified format, following comments from countries or UOE data requesters • 2014: Final single integrated ISCED 2011 mappings to be used in all statistical sources: • Further extend the coverage to « old » formal programmes and related qualifications necessary for educational attainment results Education and Training Statistics Working Group - Luxembourg, 5-6 June 2012

  6. 2014: Final single integrated 2011 mapping • Final information on allocation of programmes and qualifications: • Covered by UOE data collection • Other programmes and qualifications having an impact on educational attainment results • Classification of these programmes and qualifications into ISCED 2011 • Final relationship with the coding of LFS variables related to ISCED 2011 Education and Training Statistics Working Group - Luxembourg, 5-6 June 2012

Towards single integrated ISCED mappings: timing • Launch collection of mappings together with UOE data collection • Data submission: 30 September • Final single integrated ISCED 2011 mapping: • To be included in revised UOE Commission Regulation • To be provided together with 2014 UOE data collection Education and Training Statistics Working Group - Luxembourg, 5-6 June 2012
