Umpiring - requirements • Plus annual events: • High 5 Tournaments 3/4 per year; • Leeds School Games; • National Schools; • Junior and Senior Regional games; • Tri Regional Tournaments; • District Play Days approx 4 per year; and • Regional Performance Academy Match Plays.

Umpiring - challenges • Assessors • Currently 6 EN qualified Umpire Assessors • EN currently launching new Assessor Award • Develop a network of Umpiring Mentors/Trainee Assessors to support and encourage candidates working towards a full umpiring qualification. • An Umpiring sub group has been established to look at taking this forward. • More volunteers welcome • Survey to all teams in WY Senior and Junior leagues to seek feedback/ideas to support a Mentoring Network

Junior League – Challenges 14/15 • Overcome some the challenges from this year • - Consistent offending – no Scorecard • Decision re fines v penalty points for “admin errors” –needs a discussion at AGM to get a majority vote! • Shortage of umpires. Plus need an Umpiring Secretary! • Teams cancelling / not turning up • Team Managers supporting when required – e.g. umpiring
Junior League – Plans for 15/16 • Supporting clubs to develop young leaders/ youth umpires • Supporting clubs to develop the Team Manager role • Better promotion of the Junior League via website • Encouraging new clubs to join the league and supporting the development of new clubs. • Continuing to support the development of H5 and increasing numbers in the H5 league. • Contribution to the development a network of Umpiring Mentors/Trainee Assessors to support and encourage candidates working towards a full umpiring qualification

Officers’ reports League Secretary • One of the largest, most respected leagues in North of England • Congratulations to ALL – players, managers, umpires and spectators • Well done to Morrisons 1 – promotion without losing a fixture • Not too many rearrangements or additional costs incurred so surplus cash for the year hence • No entry to 2015/16 league for teams for participated in 2014/15 season • Thanks to Esme Stephenson and Hannah Pattison for service as Results Secretaries.
Officers’ reports • Charity Day – Breast Cancer UK • Advertise and promote the day • Raised over £1,700 plus £500 matched donation from Morrisons =>£2,200+

Proposed Rule Amendments • c) If the League finds it necessary to cancel or alter the venue for one or more of the matches at an approved venue, it will ensure that any remaining teams at the original venue are able to obtain an umpire. If a match is cancelled due to circumstances beyond the League’s eg: a leaking roof, the rearranged date will be mutually acceptable to both teams. However, should neither team agree, the committee will stipulate a date, time and venue on which the match MUST take place. • Remove eg: a leaking roof
Proposed Rule Amendments • a) All clubs/teams entering WYCNA League must register with the Results Secretary of the relevant division all their players by name and which team they represent ie 1st, 2nd 3rd etc, no later than 2 weeks before the 1st league match. • Reword • a) All teams entering the WYCNA League must fully complete the league registration form and forward to the relevant Results Secretary before any player can take the court. The registration form must be updated and resent should there be any changes. • b) All clubs/teams registering a new player, must inform the Results Secretary of the relevant division in writing, indicating which team they represent before they play their 1st league match. • Remove b) as it will now be covered by the new a)
Proposed Rule Amendments Insert apostrophe (to correct the grammar) 4d) If a player participates in 12 quarters with a higher positioned team, she becomes automatically registered with a higher positioned team of her club’schoice for the remainder of the season. Thereafter, the player may not play for any other team within their club. 4g) Any player affiliated to WYCNA may play only for one club within the West Yorkshire League. Reword: Any player affiliated to WYCNA may only be registered to one team within the West Yorkshire League at any time. 4h) Should a player wish to change clubs during the course of the season, the new club must inform the Results Secretary of the relevant division in writing. Only following confirmation from the relevant Results Secretary, will a player be eligible to play with their new club and they must play no further games for their original ‘named’ club for the rest of that season. Reword: Should a player wish to change clubs during the course of the season, it is the player’s responsibility to send one email to the secretaries of the clubs involved, copying the generic WY committee email (wycnacommittee@outlook.com). Only one change is allowed per season.
