  2. Need to know For a child is born to us, a son is given to us. The government will rest on his shoulders. And he will be called: Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Isaiah 9:6

  3. Mighty God A man who was merely a man and said the sort of things Jesus said would not be a great moral teacher. He would either be a lunatic — on the level with the man who says he is a poached egg — or else he would be the Devil of Hell. You must make your choice. Either this man was, and is, the Son of God,

  4. Mighty God or else a madman or something worse. You can shut him up for a fool, you can spit at him and kill him as a demon or you can fall at his feet and call him Lord and God, but let us not come with any patronising nonsense about his being a great human teacher. He has not left that open to us. He did not intend to. CS Lewis, Mere Christianity, pp.54-56

  6. Mighty God • Jesus accepted worship: Matt 14:33 • “My Lord and my God!” Thomas exclaimed. John 20:30 • Jesus had God’s power: • Over sickness: Matt 8:13 • Over creation: Matt 8:26-27 • Over demons: Matt 8:32

  7. The Lion • You can’t tame Jesus (see Matt 11:2-6) • He is stronger than all. • Romans 8:31 – If God is for us, who can be against us?

  8. The Death of Fear • Matt 8:25-27 (p.739) • Matt 26:34-35 • In Acts – their fear is DEAD. How? • Matt 28:18-20 • Jesus Christ is God. Trust Him and let go of all fear.
