  2. Where is the link to the Library Catalog? On the Library home page, over on the left, under “Books”

  3. What is a Browse search? A Browse search gives you results in the form of an alphabetical list. One situation in which it is very handy is when you want to look up an author who has a very common last name.

  4. Author Browse results list The list of author names usually includes the years they lived, as an added help in identifying the one you want. (Remember to use the “Go Back” link to return to the search screen)

  5. Browsing for titles A Browse search is also useful if you want to see what titles in a series start with the same words.

  7. Why browse for subject headings?

  8. Reason 1: To see related headings For some topics, the subject heading list not only tells you what the Library has, it suggests some other related topics that you can add to your search.

  9. In one easy step, you now have eight more phrases to add to your list of search terms! Plus, the last line tells you that the word “elections” may show up as a subheading under some other topics.

  10. Reason 2: To see your word & its subheadings On slide #10, you saw Elections—Canada and Elections—Case studies in the list. Here are some more. Notice the link to more related headings.
