  1. Move on ‘Corky’ from 'Life goes on' and 'Glee''s Becky Jackson! The Dutch take acting with Down Syndrome a step further with a unique weekly soap with only actors with Down syndrome. ‘Downistie’ (a Dutch reference to ‘Dynasty’) was shown during a prime-time current affairs talk show which attracts around a million viewers daily. The viewers followed the lives of lead characters Thomas, Nina, Rosanne, Hubert and Vicky in ‘Downistie’. Adultery, unwanted pregnancies, budding love stories, jealousy, intense happiness and tragic illness: all the up and downs of life jam-packed in 3-minute episodes. The series evoked a lot of reaction and emotion in Dutch society, positive as well as negative. A reflection on the media coverage and insight into the making of 'Downistie' is captured in a short documentary that follows the series. Total duration approx. 90 minutes. While 'Downistie' has no official age restriction, DSAN would not recommend the soap series and documentary for kids under 12 years of age. Wednesday 27 November 2012 Goethe Centre 19h30
