Faculty Senate Report April 17, 2014 “Whereas the name of a college is a foundational aspect of its identity, and; Whereas it is recognized that some style sheets do not require the use of the serial or “oxford” comma; notably stylesheets associated with journalism, i.e. the A.P stylesheetthat is used as the standard guide for the Campus’ news services; The Senate calls upon the administration to sustain the long American literary tradition of employing said comma as a matter of clarity, precision, erudition, and scholarly propriety, and specifically to ensure the inclusion of the serial comma in the new college name: College of Arts, Sciences, and Business.”
