  1. Important Tips to Prevent Toothaches

  2. Tips to Prevent Toothaches  • Toothache is a common dental issue for both children and adults. The level of pain and discomfort may vary, as well as its causes. • But one thing is for sure, you'll want to avoid it, as much as possible. A sore tooth can be very inconvenient. It can keep you from sleeping, eating, speaking, or moving. It can even cause missed work or school. • The good news is it's easier to prevent toothaches than have to deal with them later on.

  3. Here are Important Toothache Prevention Tips You Might Want to Remember:

  4. Take Brushing And Flossing Seriously • Toothache can be caused by debris that’s stuck on the mouth. Don't brush for the sake of brushing. Be sure to use a toothbrush with soft bristles and pay attention to tooth surfaces that are used for heavy chewing. • Don't forget to clean the back areas of the teeth, too. Check your teeth after brushing to see if there's still debris left. Brush your teeth for at least 2 minutes. • Floss daily as well, as unremoved debris below the gum line and on tight spaces between the teeth, can turn into plaque and trigger gum disease.

  5. Reduce The Intake Of Sweet Foods • Sweet and starchy foods can combine with acids and then attack the teeth enamel. This can result in cavities, which are also a common cause of toothache. • If you'd like to indulge in sweets, do it during mealtimes. This way, you can keep them from staying too long in the mouth. The mouth is more moist at this time due to chewing, which then helps flush out debris. • Since you can't brush right away after meals, practice drinking plenty of water or rinse your mouth. This will help reduce exposure of your teeth to sweets or anything acidic and starchy.

  6. Use A Custom Sports Mouthguard • If you participate in sports activities, invest in a custom sports mouthguard. • This will help protect your mouth against injuries or damages, should any accidents occur. A mouthguard distributes the pressure evenly across the mouth. • It's also comfortable to wear, unlike store-bought options, as it's made specifically to fit your mouth.

  7. Avoid Biting Down On Objects • Avoid using your teeth for other purposes, aside from eating. Don't chew on ice, or bite down on pencils or pens. • This can cause your teeth to chip or worse, break. Don't use your teeth as well to open packages. • This can hurt not only your teeth but also your gums and cheeks.

  8. Take Your Time When Eating • Try to cut down hard food first into smaller pieces, instead of using your teeth to break them down. • Indulging in meat or other crunchy or hard food can be a treat, but you'll want to protect your teeth, and dental work if there's any, against fractures.
