Names that refer to the Internet • The Information Superhighway - The Internet is like traveling on a highway to visit someone’s computer to get information. Every stop you make at a web page is like an exit off a highway. • The World Wide Web - If you had to draw a picture of the Internet it would end up looking much like a spider web. The spider web would span across the world.

Domain Name & Domain Name Endings • Domain Name - the unique name that identifies an Internet site. • Domain Name Endings - refers to the type of website it represents. • .com (commercial) .gov (government) • .edu (education) .mil (military) • .org (non profit) .net (network resources) • http://www.whitehouse.gov/

Using Your Web Browser! Takes you back to the page you were viewing Let’s you stop loading the current web page. Gives you a history list of all the web sites you visited currently in your web browser. You can save your favorite web pages in your web browser. Tells you your web page is loading.
