  2. How big is Neville Island? • Neville Island is five miles long, and four tenths of a mile with a population of 1,232 people. There are many businesses on its eastern side, and residential neighborhoods overseeing the Ohio river on the western side of the island.

  3. Who is Neville Island named after? • Neville Island is named after General John Neville who was served in the military throughout the Revolutionary War.

Where should you go on Neville Island? • Some places to visit on Neville Island are: • Paradise Island Bowl and Paradise Beach- an indoor island and beach that is open year round • Gino’s Restaurant- award-winning American, and Italian foods including subs and sandwiches • RMU Sports Center- the Robert Morris University sports center where you can play hockey, ice skate, golf, and much more!

  5. When was Neville Island found? • Neville Island was found in 1901. • One of its first owners was Douglass, a field officer who was given five thousand acres of land for his services.

Fun Facts • There used to be an amusement park on Neville Island called Coney Island which is now gone. • Coney Island held the first ride, the Mauch Chunk Railway, to form a complete circuit. • Coney Island was famous for its hot dogs. • Neville Island was once called Montour’s Island. Sometimes, people considered it to be a part of Moon, Robinson, Fayette and Ohio townships.
