Through these, he has given us his very great and precious promises so that through them you may participate in the divine nature and escape the corruption in the world caused by evil desires. 2 Peter 1:3-4

  33. ETERNAL MEDICINE: SOUL FOOD • I tell you the truth, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day. For my flesh is real food and my blood is real drink. John 6:53-55

  34. SOUL FOOD • Why spend money on what is not bread, and your labor on what does not satisfy? Listen, listen to me, and eat what is good, and your soul will delight in the richest of fare. (Is 55:2) • Man does not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God. (Mt 4:4)

  35. SOUL FOOD •  "My food," said Jesus, "is to do the will of him who sent me and to finish his work.” John 4:34 • I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will never go hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty. John 6:35

  36. EXERCISETHE BODY AND SPIRIT • Have nothing to do with godless myths and old wives' tales; rather, train yourself to be godly. For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come. 1 Tim 4:7b-8

  37. ETERNAL MEDICINE: EXERCISE • Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize.Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last; but we do it to get a crown that will last forever. Therefore I do not run like a man running aimlessly; I do not fight like a man beating the air. 1 Cor 9:24-26

  38. (T)hose who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. Isa 40:31 EXERCISE

  41. Do not offer the parts of your body to sin, as instruments of wickedness, but rather offer yourselves to God…as instruments of righteousness. Rom 6:13 ETERNAL MEDICINE: LOVE

  42. ETERNAL MEDICINE: SLEEP • I will lie down and sleep in peace, for you alone, O LORD, make me dwell in safety. Ps 4:8

  43. My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness. 2 Cor12:9 GOD’S PRESCRIPTION FOR DISEASE:Grace

  44. Neither death nor life…nor anything else in all creation will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Rom 8:38-39 GOD’S ULTIMATE PRESCRIPTION Eternal Life

  45. SUMMARY • God the Healer loves us and gives us all the gifts we need, including the gift of healing • Healing may come in many forms, including both “internal medicine” and “eternal medicine” • “God’s ways are not our ways” (Is 55) and His timing is not always our timing: be patient! • Many obstacles can block the healing process, but having faith and heeding God’s Biblical “prescriptions” facilitates healing
