Employee Safety • Causes of workplace accidents • Employee Error – These are elementary mistakes, mess ups, and anything an employee does wrong on the job. This is usually caused by a lack of experience. • Misjudged Situations • Distractions • Inappropriate working positions – an example would be sitting or standing on top of a ladder.

Safety Topics • Safety topics at a new hire training will differ depending on the type of location where the new hire will be working. However, popular safety topics are how to stay protected when dealing with hazardous chemicals, how and when to report accidents, first aid, and ergonomics.

Reporting Accidents • Most safety training for new hires includes the correct way to report slips and falls, cuts, and any other type of accident that may occur in the workplace. • New hires are trained on how to complete incident reports and are provided with information on whom to report to, should an accident happen.
First Aid • Many accidents that happen while an employee is at work can be taken care of quickly and efficiently with a properly stocked first aid kit. • New hires should know where first aid kits can be found throughout the work area and what types of injuries can receive proper medical help with contents found in a first aid kit.
Ergonomics • Ergonomics training is primarily for new hires who work in office settings. Proper ergonomics, such as sitting appropriately in an office chair to avoid back pain or preventing carpel tunnel syndrome by using a computer keyboard correctly, can avert worker compensation claims and missed work days. • DSR is something Lowe's does twice a day and that's checking for Racks, Topstock and power equip.

Workers Compensation • Is a form of insurance that provides compensation medical care for employees who are injured in the course of employment. • If employees do not incorporate workplace safety into their jobs they just might be filing for workers comp.
