  2. INTRODUCTION In this presentation I will be overlooking the work of Joshua Davis. I will be discussing and analysing the work he has produced, and the concepts behind them. I will also be discussing the techniques Joshua uses and how he produces his work.

  3. BRIEF Joshua’ Davis is an American designer, technologist, author and artist in new media. He uses computer softwares and their tools to generate art. An illustrator and painter with a passion for technology, Davis’ work showcased a rising genre of art. Davis was heavily involved in graphic and web design and from 1998 to 2001, he worked with the web production company Kioken. When Kioken folded, Davis became an independent web designer and artist, touring the world to speak at various graphic design conferences, such as SIGGRAPH, Flash Forward, FITC, BD4D,OFFF, Graphika Manila and others.

  4. THE MAYAN APOCALYPSE MURAL Joshua has worked on a large number of projects and produced a lot of work for each. One of which is the Mayan Apocalypse Mural in Mexico in 2012.

  5. SEAL OF SOLOMON In 2009 Joshua designed a graphic/pattern that would be used to decorate cups and saucers to be sold as limited edition items as only a few were made.

  6. THE FORTY THIEVES http://vimeo.com/48223770 In April 2013, Joshua produced a series of illustrations that he called the forty thieves to present at the solo show in Toronto.

  7. WINDOWS 8 DEFAULT Again in 2012, Joshua collaborated with Windows to create a range of default backgrounds on the Windows 8 home screen.

  8. TECHNIQUES/MEDIUMS He uses Macromedia Flash and Processing as tools to generate art. He is the author of Flash to the Corepublished in 2002.

  9. CRITICAL ANALYSIS As an overall opinion, I’d say that the work Joshua has produced is brilliant. The creative style Joshua uses shows a range of skills and requirements.

  10. PROPOSAL As the next part of the brief states, I have to now produce my own piece of work inspired by the chosen artist. My chosen artist is Joshua Davis, so I will now produce work and use Joshua as inspiration.
