What is it used for? The Pythagorean is used for finding the length of the hypotenuse or one of the legs. ? A B
Examples: Finding the hypotenuse a2 + b2= c2 52 +122 =c2 52 = 25 122 = 144 25+144=169 The square root of 169 is 13.
The formula for finding a leg C2 - A2 (or b2 )= B2(or A2)
