prayers meeting At on e of Ramadan nights, the Prince of believers Omar Ibn El Khattab (RAA) entered Al-Masjid Al-Nabawi, there he found people performing night prayers of Ramadan, some prays solely and others pray in groups.
When Omar saw this, he said: “ In my opinion, if I gathered all these people on one recitor it would be better that they pray in one group behind one leader (Emam)” Then he ordered them to pray in one group behind Obbay Ibn Kaab (RAA), so they prayed Al-Tarawih after Al-Eishaa.
At another night of Ramadan, Omar entered the Masjid, he found people praying behind Obbay Ibn Kaab, he was delighted & praised their obedience but he preferred that they perform this prayer (Al-Tarawih) in the last third of the night at their houses.
Moslems were performing eight bows at the night prayers of Ramadan during the era of the Prophet Muhammed. While at the era of Al-Khalifa (The successor) Omar Ibn El Khattab (RAA) some people performed it in 20 bows. End
