Warm-up Define clergy. ( hint: relates to religion)
Magna Carta • A document signed in 1199 • Limited the powers of the king • No longer collect taxes • Freedmen had right to a fair trail, by peers • Habeas Corpus- nit allowed to imprison an individual without a trail
Parliament • 1200’s , called for a gathering of people from different parts of England • Divided into two houses • House of Lords- Nobles and church officials • House of Commons- Knights and townspeople
The Kingdom of France • Capetain- king of France • Philip- ruled from 1180-1223 • Went to war against England • More land=more powerful • Philip IV-Philip the Fair • Ruled 1258-1314
