Project Selection • Out of the three proposals, the “Self Heating Coffee Mug” is the most favorable and unique idea. • Mechanical design and safety issues are the two major risks that we will face. • The other proposals were rejected due to their complexity over the given time period. • The “Self Heating Coffee Mug” proposal has been approved by all the members. Capstone Design Project: Self Heating Coffee Mug
Product Definition: User Requirements • The mug includes DISPLAY screen that shows the coffee’s temperature plus touch pads to set the desired temperature. • If the temperature falls below the desired value, the mug will “heat” the coffee keeping its temperature at the set value. • Product includes heating coils wrapped around the inner container to allow the heating process. • Power supply is a DC/rechargeable battery with a NEMA plug (120VAC), and a 12VDC car adapter capability. • There are similar products on the market. However, our product is unique in the sense that the user can set the desired temperature. Also, ours has a touch pad and a DISPLAY features. • This product is intended to the consumer market.
