Pulaski Heights Middle School & Ozark Water Project 2011-2012 Shoe Drive Turns your used and new shoes into clean drinking water !!!!!
Typical water transportation in Africa includes a bucket of some sort and sturdy feet. Walking a mile or more each way to collect water for drinking, watering animals and crops, or for cleaning and washing is not uncommon. Last year Pulaski Heights Students collected 2800 pairs of shoes to help fight this problem. This year we hope to increase that number by at least 1000 more pairs!
It’s Simple! 3 Bring your shoes to your 1st block class any time between April 30 and May 11. We will handle the rest!
The Ozark Water Projects will export them to distributors in South America, Haiti and Kenya. Shoe resale builds the local developing economy with micro businesses and affordable shoes for pennies on the dollar or barter. Affordable shoes are a life saving tool as they protect the new owner’s feet and overall health from foot abrasions, parasites and mites.
Funds generated are used to purchase well-digging rigs, water purification systems, and other supplies to bring clean, fresh water to those in need.
