  3. Back to School There is more to life than secular education (Eccl. 12:13-14)

  4. Back to School Supplies Honesty and Integrity (Rom. 12:17; 1 Thess. 4:12; Heb. 13:18) Honesty with self, fellow-students, teachers, parents, God Why? There is great harm in deceit (Prov. 20:17)

  5. Back to School Respect for authority (Tit. 3:1; 1 Pet. 2:17) Teachers have authority (Eph. 6:1; Rom. 13:1ff; 1 Pet. 5:5) Why? There is great harm in rebellion (Tit. 3:3)

  6. Back to School Supplies Hard work (Eccl. 9:10; Col. 3:23) Responsibility, dependability, faithfulness is better than “getting by” Why? Faithfulness in small things, leads to faithfulness in big things: job, marriage, Christianity (Mt. 25:14ff; Lk. 16:10)

  7. Back to School Virtue (2 Pet. 1:5) Moral courage and character is needed to stand for what is right and say “No!” (Prov. 1:10; Dan. 1:8; Jas. 4:7) Why? There will be sinful influences: immodesty, bad language, fighting, etc.

  8. Back to School Supplies God’s truth (Jn. 17:17) The truth of God’s word must be followed over what man says (Isa. 5:20; Col. 2:8) Why? Young people are bombarded with false messages about evolution, sex education, homosexuality, etc.

  9. Back to School Light (Mt. 5:12-13) Peer pressure works both ways; you can pressure others to do right (Phil. 2:15) Why? When your “light” goes out, “darkness” comes (Mt. 6:22-23)

  10. Back to School Supplies Moral friends (Prov. 13:20) Friendship with the world makes us at enmity with God (Jas. 4:4) Why? Bad company corrupts good morals (1 Cor. 15:33)
