What would Jesus call you out on? • If Jesus were to meet you at your locker and call you out like he did to the woman at the well, would you want to talk theology, or would you be willing to discuss those areas of brokenness? • Take some time to reflect silently about those areas in your life. • After a time of silence, either journal or discuss in a small group/pairs those issues. How might God want to bring healing and restoration of shalom into those situations? Encourage, exhort, and pray for one another. If you’re journaling on your own… talk to God about this aspect of your life. (your journal won’t be collected)

35. Symbols of the Seder Plate: Chagigah: Roasted egg This stands for the Temple sacrifice in ancient Jerusalem, which was offered on all holidays. It is roasted to turn it brown, just as the offerings were burned with fire upon the altar. At the Seder it is a reminder of the destruction of the Temple. Charoset: A mixture of nuts, apples, cinnamon This stands for the mortar with which the ancient Israelites were forced to make bricks in building cities and pyramids for Pharaoh. It is sweet to remind us that the bitterest toil is sweetened by the promise of redemption. Chazereth/Maror: Horseradish root or the bitter herbs This stands for the bitter life ancient Israelites suffered when they were slaves in Egypt. Karpas: Parsley This was part of a salad used at all ancient banquets as we do today at a formal meals. It is the symbol of the coming of spring and life itself. Matzah: Unleavened bread This is dough made without yeast that bakes into thin, flat bread. Biblical tradition says that the ancient Israelites had to leave Egypt so quickly that they did not have time to let the bread rise, so they made the dough without yeast or leaven. Zeroah: Roasted shank bone/paschal lamb This stands for “Karban Pesach,” the Paschal lamb which ancient Israelites ate during the existence of the Temple. Any Allergies or Picky People?
