Why were river settlements the first settlements? • 1.Because the water helped them by farming because they wouldn’t have to walk far to get water. • 2. There they had good farming conditions. • 3. The farming got lots of crops so it was easy to feed large amounts of people. • 4. The rivers provided fish and fresh water to drink. • 5. It was easy to travel in the river. • So you can see why people wanted to settle by the rivers.
How did farmers control floods? • The farmers figured out how to make dams and dig trenches. They would also build water ways and ditches to bring water to their fields for their crops. Irrigation allowed farmers to grow plenty of food and support a big amount of humans. When 3,00 B.C. came by , their was cities that had formed and a region called Sumer.
What is a cuneiform and a rebus? • A cuneiform was a form of writing and keeping records of trade and other things. • Cuneiform was carved into clay. • A Rebus was a puzzle similar to a rubrics cube.
