1. Bible study 201 UNIT 11 DANIEL

2. Daniel was 16 years of age, when he was taken into Babylon and hand picked for government service. The name Daniel means: “God is my judge”. Daniel and his friends names and diets where changed so that they would loose their jewish identity. But through their faithfulness to the Lord, they were rewarded. Daniel 1:8 Amplified Bible (AMP) 8But Daniel made up his mind that he would not defile (taint, dishonor) himself with the [a]king’s finest food or with the wine which the king drank; so he asked the commander of the officials that he might [be excused so that he would] not defile himself. We are in this world, but not of this world. What an example Daniel was in this regard. When they were taken into Babylon, they were free to establish themselves as part of the social and commercial fabric of the city.

3. Jeremiah 29:4-7 Amplified Bible (AMP) 4 “So says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, to all the captives whom I have sent into exile from Jerusalem to Babylon, 5 ‘Build houses and live in them; plant gardens and eat their fruit. 6 Take wives and have sons and daughters; take wives for your sons and give your daughters in marriage, that they may bear sons and daughters; multiply there and do not decrease [in number]. 7 Seek peace and well-being for the city where I have sent you into exile, and pray to the Lord on its behalf; for in its peace (well-being) you will have peace.’ And they also maintained their own traditions, and practiced their own religion. So basically, they enjoyed full freedom within Babylon. The book of Daniel and Revelation are similar in content – apocalyptic writing. Apocalyptic = literally uncovering / revelation Daniel is the last of the four major prophets.

4. Daniel 1:4 Amplified Bible (AMP) 4 young men without blemish and handsome in appearance, skillful in all wisdom, endowed with intelligence and discernment, and quick to understand, competent to stand [in the presence of the king] and able to serve in the king’s palace. He also ordered Ashpenaz to teach them the literature and language of the [a]Chaldeans. He was a man who kept a clean heart and body. The time of Daniel and Ezekiel ran in parallel. Daniel was in the palace at Babylon, while at the same time, Ezekiel was toiling in a slave gang. Daniel’s life was easier in many of it’s material aspects, but was considered far more perilous. Daniel was a prophet of dreams. To understand the great signs in revelation, you need to look at the meaning in Daniel. Daniel lived to be over 90 years old. He spend all his life in Babylon, and became the Prime Minister of Babylon. God used Daniel to be His mouth peace, and declare truth in an ungodly society. 5. God enabled Daniel to interpret King Nebuchadnezzar’s dream and because Daniel took that step of faith Daniel won the favour of Nebuchadnezzar, which opened the door for him to speak God’s word to him personally as well as to the nation.

7. The rock represents Jesus and His Heavenly Kingdom, which shatters all early kingdoms. Daniel 7 parallels Daniel 2 In this we have four empires subdivision of ten The ten toes Daniel 2:41 Amplified Bible (AMP) 41 And as you saw the feet and toes, partly of potter’s clay and partly of iron, it will be a divided kingdom; but there will be in it some of the durability and strength of iron, just as you saw the iron mixed with common clay. The ten horns Daniel 7:7 Amplified Bible (AMP) 7 After this I kept looking in the night visions, and behold, [I saw] a fourth beast (the Roman Empire), terrible and extremely strong; and it had huge iron teeth. It devoured and crushed and trampled down what was left with its feet. It was different from all the beasts that came before it, and it had ten horns (ten kings).

The revelation of the 70 weeks Daniel 9:25-26 Amplified Bible (AMP) 25 So you are to know and understand that from the issuance of the command to restore and rebuild Jerusalem until [the coming of] the Messiah (the Anointed One), the Prince, there will be seven weeks [of years] and sixty-two weeks [of years]; it will be built again, with [a city] plaza and moat, even in times of trouble. 26 Then after the sixty-two weeks [of years] the Anointed One will be cut off [and denied His Messianic kingdom] and have nothing [and no one to defend Him], and the people of the [other] prince who is to come will destroy the city and the sanctuary. Its end will come with a flood; even to the end there will be war; desolations are determined. This pin points the coming of the Massiah. Daniel 9:25 took place in 444 B.C. The 69 weeks of 7 years = 483 years, which works out to A.D 33.
