  3. We need great teachers for our nation’s future! • Teaching to change the world • I taught elementary for 18 years • Why did you go into education? • We need your help recruiting the best • Encourage those with potential • Help build up our profession!

More extensive and intensive school placements than any other college • Freshmen visit 7 different schools • Sophomore 2 days/week for year (Street Project) • Junior 3 days/week for year (Lots of teaching, case study) • Senior see school begin in August, then 2 days/week until student teaching(Teacher Performance Assessment) • All closely tied to blocks of ed courses and supervised! (Credit-bearing)

What’s special about our programs? • Our partnerships with schools • Our placement & persistence rates • 20 districts/30 reps for 43 teacher candidates • ½ of district reps were Maryville doctoral grads • 93% of 2010/11 graduates teaching • 80% still in teaching 6-8 years after graduation • Faculty involvement with students (Prof Journal/Growth Plan) • Our faculty experience and research

  11. In what areas do we license? • Elementary Education (Grades 1-6) with concentration in: • English/Language Arts • Social Studies • Mathematics • Science • Early Childhood/ Elementary (Birth-Grade 6) BA or MA
